KAKAMEGA FRIENDS

March 15 2014 and April 2014

In March we went to Kakamega and had 

a great meeting with the members there.

We love these people and so enjoy being with them.

We also went in April and had a 

great Sacrament meeting with them.

She was such a big help in getting the meetings arranged

and notifying the members.

We will certainly miss these wonderful members.

KISUMU FRIENDS

April 6, 2014

Time is closing down on out time in Kenya so 

in Kisumu I took more pictures of friends here.

We love them and will miss them so much when we go home.

RELIEF SOCIETY BIRTHDAY SOCIAL

April 5, 2014

March was a very busy month for  church activitie

so we planned the 

Relief Society Birthday Social 

the first Saturday in April. 

We bagan by learning some beading methods for

making a Purse cover. 

Sister Joyce was very willing to shoe and teach what she

had learned and was making money doing.

Sister Susan was anxious to learn.

Sister Joyce was well organized and several strings available for 

several sister to be working at the same time.

Talks about Relief Society were given by Sister Mary 

(RS President and by Sister Moon and by Sister Susan)

Sister moon then demonstrated hoe to make fresh cabbage

salads. We learned what to add to the lettuce to make

delicious salads and also experimented with different dressings.

The fresh salads are healthier and cheaper than the 

fried cabbage salad that us usually served fir dinners.

Everyone enjoyed tasting each salad and some were

very well liked and others were liked by some sisters

and some were not liked by some sisters.

W then had refreshments of fruity salad, 

We also had chocolate birthday day cake and ice cream.

Little Ruth even enjoyed the refreshment.

All over the world sister enjoy visiting and sharing food.

That is the beauty and purpose of refreshment or a meal

at a Church get together - learning about each other and the 

camaraderie of friends and other women.

Most of the sisters had never had a fruit salad and they 

really enjoyed the fruits mixed together.

I am so thankful for Relief Society and being able to work 

with these wonderful sister in Kenya!!

I will miss them so much when I go home.

GEOFFREY'S FUNERAL

April 3. 2014

Geoffrey was the Young Men President in Busia and was 

planning to serve  a mission.
Sunday evening after a full day of serving the members
and helping the missionaries in Busia he was attacked as he
went to his home. A "Good Samaritan" came to his aid - took him to
the hospital and they hospital was able to find his
grandmother on Monday evening. He was in a coma
until Friday morning when he was aware of those
around him, asked for a drink then passed away.
We were heart broken because we loved him.
He and his sister were raised bu theiry
grandmother who sold pineapples on the street side
to support them. He had made a CD of rap music
that he was selling to support his way in college.
We attended the funeral in Busia.

Following the services the casket was closed and the burial 

was done in the area behind the home.

Elder Moon dedicated the grave.

It was a reverent and humbling feeling to be a part of the services

of  such a fine young man. I am sure he is serving the 

Lord in the Spirit World and teaching his parents.

This is a nearby home on the path to the home of Geoffrey.

I am grateful for the knowledge we have of the 

Plan of Salvation and the Love of the Savior that

he showed through the Atonement.

WEEK-END IN BUSIA

March 29 - 30, 2014

Hard to believe but we are having our last week-end training

in Busia Branch. It was a busy two days for us.

Leader Training and Seminary and Institute Training on Saturday-

Speak in Sacrament Meeting then teach the Combined Relief Society/

Priesthood Meeting.. We just pray and hope that it was 

helpful to the members here.

Saturday evening we had a very enjoyable dinner with

Elder Ball and Elder Elliott

The sunset view from our hotel room was beautiful and colorful.

God's creations are so beautiful!!

The first Sunday we were in Busia Peter came 

to Elder Moon in Sacrament and sat on his lap,

cuddled down and went to sleep!
