SILAS MOON A

July    2013

We visited Isaac and Elizabeth to take a gift to  their
baby and to give a temple lesson to Elizabeth.
We found some interesting things wile there.
Here is Elder Moon with Silas Moon Angote!
Isaac and his son Silas.
Before we left home our grandson Brody gave us
his "mimi" ( his comfort blanket) that his parents had
tried for months to have hin give up.
Brody wanted it to be given to a little boy in Kenya
so we were happy to give it to Silas.
Here is Silas with Brody's "mimi".
Isaac's family.
The family with Elizabeth's sister.
Out doors with Elder Moon.
This is a good family.

DRIVING IN KISUMU

July 8, 2013
After taking Elder and Sister Jensen to the airport we drove
along the old airport road and saw some interesting sites.
We were across an islet of the lake and saw the city across the way.
Loading water jugs on their bodabodas.
They must be balanced just right in order to ride the bike.
We passed the Coca Cola plant.
Little shops for the local workers.
There is always a need for firewood.
More shops.
Petroleum tanks. We saw many trucks that would come
here to get petroleum to distribute.
Road repair in the area!!
We went into the Kisumu Beach Resort.
Nice picnic area and a place to purchase picnic supplies.
A sausage tree near the gazebos
More of the park area.
There were even bungalows for rent
Near the gate were homes for the workers.
We passed the gate to the Gold Course of Kisumu.
Another reason for someone to come visit us!!
A piki piki ready to transport whatever will fit in the crates.
Hardly noticeable is the black crate just behind the driver.
I love it here as we see so many things of interest and the
people are awesome!!

Wouldn't you like to serve in Kenya.
See your Bishop and make application!!

ALEX'S NEW HOME

July 4, 2013
We visited Alex and his family in Luanda and had
a very nice visit as we talked of reading the Book of Mormon
as a family and teaching the children the doctrines.
We also had a very delicious lunch and chocolate and sandwiches
and then went to see their new home.
In front of their new brick home.
It is about ready for the plastering on the walls and the windows.
Being from a brick laying family I was particularly
interested in the brick work!!
I wish my brother could see this.

I guess as they laid from the sides of the wall maybe they didn't
match up and left a hole in the wall.
Akuna matata - No worry - they will be filled with the plaster!
This is a very big home for most families. The room straight ahead
with the bright sunlight coming through the window is the
indoor bathroom - not a toilet but bathroom.
They will be so glad when they are able to move in.
Now they live on the main street of the town but this home is
at least one kilometer off the road.
They are a good family!!

ELDER AND SISTER JENSEN TRAINING

July 5-7, 2013
Elder and Sister Jensen (Public Affairs Missionaries)
came to Kisumu to do training for Mormon Helping Hands
that will do service about August 17.
They came on Friday and we we took them to Dunga Bay to see the
fishing port. They were just unloading a boat of charcoal from
Uganda and we captured this picture.
On Saturday we took them to Busia to do the training there
and we had to take pictures at the Equator.
There first time across the line!!
This was across the street from the Church.
I'd never noticed the butchery across the street.
Notice the pieces of chicken and the live one as well.
As we came into Kisumu we saw a huge truck on its side
in the street. It hadn't been there long and many people were
on their way to the scene to contribute their help.
If you click on the picture you can see it better.
A quick snap as we turned the corner looking out the back side window.
Sunday after Church meetings was  the Kisumu training.
Elder Jensen at the projector, Sister Jensen by Zaiada and Elder Moon.
Elder Jensen speaking to the group.
President Okila confirming what was given.
There was good information given and it will be a great event.
Tune in later for our service!!

A large bus came go take the casket and family members back
