ELDORET EXCHANGES AND NON-EXCHANGES AND HERE AND THERE

February 2014

We took our Sisters to Kapsabet and met

Elder and Sister Anderson there so they could take the 

Sisters on to Eldoret for their transfer there.Then...

...two day later we did the same thing as they were transferred 

back to Kisumu. Some unforeseen problems came up and it

needed to be this way.

Now some things we have seen on our adventures in Kenya:

An overloaded MATATU with someones belongings hanging out.

Sweeping the rocks of tar in for the road repairs.

Watching traffic is a great way to pass the time of day!!

NAIVASHA

February 8-9, 2014

On Sunday afternoon following District Conference we 

drove to Naivasha and visited with 

Elder and Sister Dalley for our Preparation Day.

We went to the chapel in Naivasha to see where the Branch met.

Inside was a large meeting area and several offices and classrooms.

Near the road we saw a GIRAFFE nibbling off a tree.

We also rode in a boat out to see the hippos in Lake Naivasha.

Here are Sister and Elder Dalley ready for the ride.

There were LOTS of trees along the shoreline and in the trees

and bushes along the lake edge.

I love the look of the birds against the sky!

The lake is usually covered with flamingos but the lake is

so high there are hardly any here.

Look closely and see the lesser FLAMINGOS flying in 

formation around the lake.

I see a HIPPO!!

We saw two families of hippos in the lake.

Not often does one see the hippos on the shore during the day.

Can you see this one getting some sun?

Then it was up and moving!

Right towards us at first then.....

...moving to the water....

...and how refreshing to be in the water.

With each step it moved deeper and ....

...deeper into the water.

We saw many more birds and animals here but alas no pictures.

Home of Joy Adamson who raised some lions and was able to
introduce them back into the wild.

The movie Born Free was filmed from her experiences.

 Inside the home,

We had lunch on the lawn and enjoyed the scenery and the 

monkeys in the nearby tree.

This was a great Preparation Day in Naivasha.

We drove home the next morning to a very bust day!!

ELDORET DISTRICT CONFERENCE

February 8, 2014

We are not in the Eldoret District but President Hicken had

said that we should attend when we could so we went to 

Eldoret for their District Conference.

On Saturday there were several meetings including an 

Auxiliary Training meeting that Sister Moon attended.

Here Sister Hicken is counseling with the District Auxiliary 

Leaders and preparing for the following training meeting.

The Women Leaders here have the same concerns and ideas

that we have at home. Women and their desires and needs

are the same I think all over the world.

These are valiant and strong women leaders.

Beautiful mother and really cute child!!

Conference was held this year in the new and recently dedicated

Branch Building in Langas. 

These missionaries recently had hair cuts and here they are 

showing off their more shallow parts of the cuts!

Sister Anderson was the pianist.

This is a rare photo of the Kenya Nairobi Mission Presidency. 

They are  not together very often as they live so far apart.

President ChirChir (from Kitale in Northwest Kenya),

President Hicken (from Nairobi in South Kenya), and 

President Bililemwa (from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania).

These are inspired and great men who work well together

and love the missionaries and the work they do.

We really enjoyed the time with the members in Eldoret and
Kitale and learned so much from the meetings and the great
talks that were given,
