RUMA GAME PARK and MBITA

February 20, 2014
On our visit to Rusinga Island and Mbita in February
we went a little early and met Brother Amos
and he went with us to
RUMA GAME PARK.
Near the entrance we saw several
WATERBUCK.
It was a rainy day so many of the animals were in hiding!!
WATERBUCK
BABOONS
We saw many hills with this pattern of plant growth.
This is a very pretty bird but the picture doesn't do it justice.
This was a pretty park.
Can you see the
GIRAFFE?

A parasite plant in a tree.
Buildings by an entrance.
We wanted to see the Roan Antelope but hadn't seen one so
we asked a Ranger where the herd may be.
He told us to travel this path so far and maybe we would see them.

No, we did not see them and that was the main reason
to go to the park. We enjoyed the park and with Amos!
We traveled from the park to Mbita and the views of the lake
were spectacular!!
This island allows NO DOGS on the island.
Loooooong story so will tell it another time.

MBITA and RUSINGA ISLAND

In Mbita we met with Brother Amos and some of his family and
Brother Kevin and some of his family at the Mbita Hotel.
We had a grat lesson and discussion.
Elder and Sister Moon with some of the members we met with.
On Rusinga Island we visited Sister Oketch.
Her son and grandchildren were visiting.

Two of the grandchildren.
Sister Oketch, her son Tom and grandchildren,
Amos and Elder Moon.

We had a great visit and lessons with members in Mbita and Rusinga.

ELDORET EXCHANGES AND NON-EXCHANGES AND HERE AND THERE

February 2014
We took our Sisters to Kapsabet and met
Elder and Sister Anderson there so they could take the
Sisters on to Eldoret for their transfer there.Then...
...two day later we did the same thing as they were transferred
back to Kisumu. Some unforeseen problems came up and it
needed to be this way.

Now some things we have seen on our adventures in Kenya:

An overloaded MATATU with someones belongings hanging out.
A narrow path for a truck!!
Piki Piki loaded with food for the animals.
School students going home for lunch!
Traffic and road repairs.
Sweeping the rocks of tar in for the road repairs.
Watching traffic is a great way to pass the time of day!!
Notice this!
This truck was loaded with sheep.
Whoooops!
A bigger WHOOOOOPS!
Road repairs. Notice the woman with the flags.
She would flag traffic from both directions to stop or go.
Market day in a small town.
People come from kilometers around to buy and sell!
BANANAS at the Market!!
Each bunch sells for about $5.
Good way to transport wood.
