We saw many many monkeys and baboons!!

Solitude at the pond.
Baboons came to the watering ponds a lot while we
were here. They ran and played and some
just sat and pondered about life.....
We all laughed at the little ones as they reminded
us of years ago -
no maybe it was only last year -
when we had young children and they were
acting the same as the baboons!!
LION
MALE LION
We all decided this was a male lion without a mane.
We read that the male lions in Tsavo West Park
do not grow manes.
FEMALE LIONS and CUBS
As we approached it seemed that we saw four
cubs suckling mothers.

Looking around to see what was going on.
These two kittens walked away and then stopped together
to get a safer look.
Sharp eyed female.
Someone needs to keep watch.
We drove to within about 15 feet of this group.
This lion licked her paws for quite a while
getting it from all angles.
LEOPARD
Elder Moon was driving and Elder Murdock
(in the back seat)
had said early in the time together
that he was watching trees for a leopard.
On the last day - the last outing - just before we
were to go back to Nairobi he said
had given up and wasn't watching for one but as
we turned a corner going to a place a leopard
had been "spotted" the day before
(and a last time effort) Elder Murdock
asked to stop to take a picture of a big tree -
not even thinking of a leopard.
Something looked out of alignment to me and
I said, "There's a cat in that tree!".
CAN YOU SEE IT?
My "spy" glasses confirmed that indeed there was
a leopard in that tree!!
Can you see it?
He was looking right at us!!
Then he dangled his other leg and lay down his head.
After taking pictures we drove ahead to get the
other truck with Harris' and Hunter's. They had turned
around and were coming back because they figured we
had seen something.
They could hardly see it in the tree but they drove closer
up the slight embankment, into the tall grasses
and were able to see....
five elephants lying at the base of the tree
that we could not see!!
We saw other animals but we weren't able to get pictures.

What a climax to a great few days!!!!!
We then left to go to Nairobi with
success in our adventures and
knowledge from the training!!
