MARCELLUS AND FAMILY

Macellus and his family went to the temple in

South Africa about two years ago and since that

time has built a new home and compound.

They are good people and want to do what is right.

When we visited him he met us along the road and showed
us the way over the rutted, narrow and rough road to his home.
The field behind was dug and readied for planting by
manual labor using a          .

After a good visit and spiritual message

(we even sang hymn number 6 Redeemer of Israel)

it was time for pictures!!

It is a pretty addition to a home.

This is made of mud and has a mud lip around the bottom

that keeps the rains from soaking into the base of the walls.

You can see the edge of their home to the left.

The building to the back is the kitchen building

(this is larger than most compound kitchens).

The building to the right is their oldest sons home

(he is now on a mission but will live here when he returns.)

The pile of brick is for their second son's home when he is ready to build.

He is getting supplies a little at a time as he can afford them.

This is the bath and toilet building in the far back corner

behind their home.One side with a door is for washing

themselves for a bath and the other side with a door is 

for a toilet (usually a squat).

This is a sisal plant. Ropes, baskets, etc are made from

this and it is a big export item for Kenya.

We passed a private school and wanted to take a picture of 

the young people playing but when we stop 

EVERYONE also stops and looks at us and poses for

a picture. They are a happy group of people!!

These cuties were standing by the fence and wanted 

their picture taken.

I wanted this to show you the workings of a mud house.

Branches strapped together and filled with mud and dried.

I really think this is an older one with the outside

mud sloughed off.

Another home in the area. See the rack with the
dishes piled on as they dry in the open air.
A good visit and much to see on the way.
