DENTIST OFFICE

June 4, 2013
Elder Ntsele needed some dental work done so we
took him to the dentist.
Elder Lewis is reading a book on Kenya as he
patiently waited for his companion.
This is the reception, check in and waiting area.
The desk (covered with the blue checkered) cloth
is where the woman sat or worked as she checked
in patients for the dentist as well as medical doctors.
The green door is the entrance and the doctor and
dentist offices are in the hall out the door.
As patients came in the woman would make a new
file for them or find their previous file -
these files were pieces of paper folded in half
with the doctor notes hand written on them and
then piled on the desk.
The area behind the curtain on the right
contained shelves that contained the folded papers
that was the information on each patient who had come in.
There were alphabetical markings on the shelves to show
where they were piled.
As patients came in for the doctors they were weighed on
the scales (yo cannot see the top of it)
and their blood pressure was taken as they sat on the
chair in front of the desk.
As we waited a patient came out of the examination
room of a doctor and had her blood drawn as she sat on
the chair. The phlebotomist took the equipment
he needed from his pocket to draw the blood.
One of the benches for "waiters".
I thought this was interesting.
There was a TV on top of the chest by the
scales and it was wired to someplace outside.
It was turned on just after this picture was taken.
This door leads to a balcony so one could stand there
rather than sit inside if they wanted.
The dentist was very skilled, had good equipment
and repaired the teeth very nicely.
I was impressed with the quality of work done.
