PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MANYATTA

September 20, 2013
We visited Joyce's school in Manyatta on morning.
We arrived just in time for snack as the children who brought something
from home could eat their snack.
The children at this table are 2 1/2 years old to 3 years.
(I am standing in the entry doorway adn this shows the width
of the building for the school.)
At this table the children on the bench at the back are 5 years old
and the children on the chairs in the front are 4 years old.
(This table is perpendicular to the previous table and you
can somewhat see the length of the building.)
This girl broke a piece from her sandwich and squashed the
crumbled mess into her mouth.
It was fairly warm in the small building but several still had their
hats and coats bundled on them.
When the finished eating their snacks it was time for music -
singing and dancing.
This boy left the building for a few minutes and returned
with this large drum which he pounded as they sang.
(And the singing was in Kiswahili so I have no idea
what they were singing except I did recognize Jesu)
They all stood in the open space with their tables on three sides.
They sang and some danced....
... this young man really gave us a show with his dancing!!
More singing and dancing.
It was then time for reading a Bible story.
Today it was Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
And they had no clothes and they were naked.
Now was a good time to review the clothing chart because they
were naked and had no CLOTHES.
They had no trousers. They had no shirts, and on and on...
This is the third table of children listening to the Bible story.
The children on the left are 5years old and the others are 4 years old.
The girl to the left middle had a tiny piece of paper and the other
girl wanted it and they "battled" over it -  even to hitting!!
The teacher discovered it and took it away from her but ...
...she still had a tinier piece!!
We enjoyed the time here and will go again.
